Orange-Haired Darling
My treacherous mind,
Destroying me as days pass.
A lonely heart,
That has been burnt and crushed.
And then you appeared
Distracting me like sleep,
Protecting me from a bitter waking life.
Endings draw near,
We never stood a chance,
I always knew,
You remain unaware.
I know I’m alone in this,
You go on dates,
I mourn over past loves.
Nothing is mine,
Not that walk to the station,
When we paired in groups,
Not even those talks,
About your hobbies,
Or your beliefs.
You brushed past me
Like a mellow breeze
Gracing me like the winter sun
A gentle friend
Who distance will always have.
My fresh wounds,
From those previous battles,
I won’t fight for this,
But it’s okay,
You’ll never know.
You can perform in your softest colours,
Lavenders in your hair,
And I can momentarily smile,
This sensation can remain
As my grave skeleton in a closet.
You were never a great love,
I cut all those strings,
But you were a great feeling,
Playing in my mind
When I roam those city streets.
