MIDNIGHT TURTLE
Our house by the pond.
Five precious people spawned
into my turbulent present
my nights now sweetened.
The clock approaches twelve,
we venture somewhere else.
Our dull corduroy couch,
a farm down south.
The songs Giorgios plays,
he and Kurt sing away.
I’m walking behind, rather slow,
James’ by my side, he follows.
Our place atop a hill
and the only light that fills
our surroundings is from the stars
and the hopice down afar.
Dead-end street
we lie on the road.
How fortunate we are to meet,
to see the meteors roam.
We venture onwards,
the library that doesn’t close.
Our fix of soda and coffee,
a taste so lovely.
Talks about romance,
debates on fiction.
The path we dance on,
this reality we live in.
A story about six friends
a timeless tale that may end.
Still we found one another,
that’s a blessing like no other.
