Embarking on a journey
the train comes to a halt.
My hungry heart calling
for great love, this city, our door.
And you’re so enchanting,
your tall boots and smoky eyes.
My prince charming, your voice
makes me cry and rejoice.
Hold me close, my best friend
for we could wash away
each other’s melancholia
and never convey what we mean to each other.
Soon enough, our perfect summer
ends in rainbow fireworks
over a place we called home
where dying leaves scatters our paths.
Our strawberry glass set
shatters on the floor.
Never together again but
won’t be lonely anymore.
I guess I got what I wanted.
A big mansion, picket fences,
a man who knows me
but keeps me from glowing.
And you’ll shine and
the world will find
you so enchanting
the way I still do.
I will return to Room 707
and maybe one day
you’ll meet me at the door
and answer me when I call.
Because no matter how
much love hurts
or how often it does
to love is never a waste.
I think you believe that too.
