My dreamboat rocks
over murky waters.
A mysterious knock
and the shadow loiters.
He is long gone.
It’s time to move on.
But I feel his corpse
creep in the floorboards.
It’s all over now.
He’s left my house.
But he’s in the fog
I see through the hall.
I see him at night
when no one’s in sight.
His winsome smile beams,
his blue eyes gleam.
In my apparitions,
those deceptive visions,
he no longer hates me
and we pass pleasantries.
I see him at day
through the nostalgic haze.
Long drives in his hot rod.
A pink sunrise. I see it all.
He was an escape.
A knight in his ebony cape.
Fighting the monsters ahead,
but he lurks under my bed.
I hear the clock tick,
as the tap drips.
I’m covered in his sick
and he pulls me in.
He’s bewildering, I’m bewitched
by his whimsy, his sakura lips.
I know that the him I recall
already walked out the door.
He’s always second best,
but even as I rest,
his name, his face
brings distaste, but torments every place.
I’m sick of these solliloquies,
detailing his virulency,
his hypocrisy, his fatuous cruelty,
how much he means to me.
I won’t love him forever.
I’ll miss our time together.
Will forgive him never
but someday I won’t remember,
When we dyed our hair a matching black.
The scent of rum, the night we laughed.
Getting lost on that road to the lake.
Before he became my malefic wraith.
It’s best he disappears.
I don’t want him near,
for he is what I hate,
my pulchritudinous daze.
I’ll say good riddance
once the memories are distant.
My dream boy turned dark,
but he’s now a man of the past.
